4 Tips to Add a Little Serenity to Your Crazy Days
November 15, 2011 by Erin
Whether you’ve got one kid, 20 kids, are expecting or just have a furry beast around the house (be it a dog or a man!), life can be crazy and hectic. Too much on that to-do list and not enough hours in the day can make finding a little calm seem like a joke. But it’s no joke! Today Mallika Chopra, founder of intent.com, has provided tips on finding everyday serenity. They’re simple, but so effective in helping you stay mindful and aware during your day!
4 Tips for Everyday Serenity
1. Just breathe. Take a moment, breathe deeply, and say “I” on your in breath, and “Am” on your out breath. Do this for 10 seconds.
2. Walking meditation. Go for a slow-paced, 10-minute walk outside. Use your five senses to appreciate what’s happening around you—the wind, the greenery, the sounds, the smells.
3. Power off. Put away the electronic devices for a solid hour after 6 p.m. During that time don’t criticize, condemn or complain.
4. State an intent. Every morning when you wake up state your intent for the day. Then actualize it!
I personally love the idea of stating an intent for the day. Whether it’s to appreciate your family, make time for yourself or mark a big to-do off your list, it’ll help you find focus for the day. That breathing exercise may also come in handy the next time the dog is barking, dinner is on the stove and your toddler just wants to be picked up… —Erin
