I’ve never been a soccer player. For some reason the whole foot-to-ball coordination that you need doesn’t come very naturally to me. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to watch soccer. I remember watching the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup and being absolutely in awe of the women who kicked serious booty on that team. One of those women? Mia Hamm. Recognized as the world’s best all-around women’s soccer player EVER, Mia isn’t just amazing on the soccer field, she’s also quite wonderful in the real world. Married to Boston Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, Mia is mom to two five-year-old twin girls, Grace and Ava.
While I was awarding Mia with the title of Fit Bottomed Girl of 2012 (Woot! Woot!) a few weeks ago, I was also able to sneak a few questions in for Fit Bottomed Mamas about parenting, getting healthy meals on the table (she’s been working with the Grain Foods Foundation and has lots of good tips) and, of course, sports. Check out the video below of Mia talking about her family!

Any Mia Hamm fans out there? Love how normal and relate-able she is? Us, too! —Jenn
