Breastfeeding in Public: A Funny Tale of Two Types
September 14, 2012 by Erin

Breastfeeding in public? Do you cover up and hide, bare it all or fall in the middle?
With the second child, it’s definitely true that you’re a whole lot more laid back about everything. You don’t seem to fret quite as much, and you don’t sweat the small stuff.
I recently saw this very funny video, comparing the shy first-time breastfeeding mom to a seasoned mom of two who will feed her baby when she wants to, thankyouverymuch. Whichever camp you fall into when it comes to nursing in public, this video lets you know you’re in good company.

Now I can’t say that I’m as brave as the second mom, but I do love her attitude. I’d say I fall squarely in the middle; I’ll feed my baby where I need to, but I try to be discreet without hiding in a corner somewhere under a down comforter.
Were you more relaxed about breastfeeding in public with Baby No. 2? Or still too shy to try? —Erin

Too funny! I think part of it is that with the second child, you have to be taking care of your older child as well, so you often can’t go hide. It’s a matter of priorities.
Love it!! Definitely going to share this!!!
Definitely more relaxed with nursing baby #2. I always use a cover-up and attempt to be discreet in public, but I’m no longer sitting on grimy bathroom floors in restaurants!
