Review: Mega-fit Momma (With Giveaway!)

Mega-Fit Momma DVD I must be in need of a little R&R lately because I have definitely been drawn to the more relaxing yoga-esque postpartum workout DVDs. (I must be getting enough cardio chasing after my more mobile daughter.) And Mega-fit Momma was right up my relaxation alley.

Both a prenatal and postpartum workout, instructor Jillian Moriarty makes you feel comfortable, with her goofy sense of humor, physical-therapy expertise and the fact that she’s in her second trimester and her workout partner is in her third (and does additional modifications). Jillian also specifies that there are no controversial moves in the workout, so you don’t have to worry about lying on your back or doing any headstands here.

The workout focuses mostly on stretching and Pilates-based moves. A few of the stretches felt simply amazing, so I know pregnant mamas will really enjoy these, too. Planks and lunges are the more challenging exercises of the DVD, along with some balance-challenging moves that are sure to challenge that pregnancy clumsiness. Jillian incorporates gliding discs, which pose an added challenge and a bit of a cardio element as well. Overall, you’re not going to find a super-challenging session here, but you will find a lot of body TLC if you’re pregnant or newly postpartum. I do also love the bit of love she gives to the ankles and toes in the form of ankle rolls and toe stretches—we know they need some love during pregnancy!

The workout focuses a lot on breathing and that “Pilates breath,” which you’ll really notice because there is no music in the DVD. I would have preferred some background tunes, but I guess it’s a clean slate for those who’d rather put on their own tunes!

Fit Bottom line: This prenatal and postpartum DVD is a gentle workout ideal for third trimester moms-to-be and newly postpartum moms easing back into exercise!

  1. I want to win because ive lost 190 pnds over the last year and a half so i need some extra motivation to keep me going!

  2. This sounds like exactly what I need. I just started my 3rd trimester & have had to step away from teaching jazzercise & running. Mixing this in with swimming will help keep the pains away.

  3. I could really use this being the mommy of two young children. Would be a great stress reliever!

  4. Sounds like the perfect gift for a certain family membe who is newly pregnant with her first child, but wants to stay in shape during and after….thanks!

  5. I would love to win this for a young lady at church. She is a single mom who just delivered her son last week. She was a regular at the gym and I know she would love this. She has grown in wisdom so much through her pregnancy and I think this would boost her even more. Thanks for the opportunity.

  6. I want to win because I’m still trying to shed the weight from all three of my kids! Since my most recent addition 9 months ago, I’ve taken up running and pilates is supposed to be great for cross-training.

  7. I would SO use this! After just having my second child 6 months ago i still have 20 lbs to lose before im back to pre-preggo weight its much harder the second time around to lose the weight!

  8. I want to win because my younger sister is three months into her pregnancy and I’m already scared that she’s going to not care about her health… it’s not necessarily about shedding those pounds after birth, but staying active to chase after her little critter when it’s born. We don’t know the sex yet, but no matter the gender, she needs to relax and keep her health in mind.

Mega-fit Momma would be a great way for both of us to work out together and get some sisterly bonding time… after all I’m going to be an AUNT!

  9. My husband and I are coming tomour first wedding anniversary.. Aaandd.. Wait for it…. We’ve recently decided.. Recently meaning yeaterday morning.. That we’re ready to try and make a baby!! Yayyy. Haha. I’m so excited and nervous, but ready. I quit smoking a year ago in preparation for this.. I started eating healthy and exercising, but I’ve wanted to start yoga for all these positive things, and also cuz the best part.. It’s pregnant-friendly while still being extremely effective, so why not start now?! Lol. I wanna win!!

  10. I want to win!! I’m currently 6 months pregnant and due to issues with my pregnancy and the overall exhaustion associated with being pregnant for he 3rd time – I haven’t worked out in months and I’ve put on much more weight than in my last two pregnancies. I’m already trying to plan for the post-partum period and figure out how I’m going to get back to the “fit-bottomed” me!

  11. I want to win this because I am easing myself back into the workout world. As I do more cardio, I know I also need to stretch. What a fun way to do it 😉

  12. I want to win because I am a somewhat disabled older person who can’t keep up with a lot of the usual activities and need a more gentle workout.

  13. OHOOOOO !!! It sounds so wonderful. I still have a big belly that I would love to get rid of. My balance isn’t the best since I have a neurological issues. However it sure sounds like this workout would help it. My favorite workouts are pilates and stretching.

  14. I would love to win this, I just found out I am pregnant with my 3rd child, my other two are 16 and 8!!! It is like I am starting over! HA!! I loved doing pre and post-natal yoga with both my boys and it would be fantastic to do it again with this one!

  15. I love yoga workouts!! I have a “pinched hip” from my last pregnancy & yoga does wonders for it:)
