Tracey Mallett: The Booty Barre Beginners & Beyond Workout (With Giveaway!)

booty barre tracey mallettI’ve been getting into a Pilates class at the gym lately, even though the instructor is a bit of a drill sergeant. I decided to pop in a workout DVD I’ve had on my shelf for awhile now by Tracey Mallet, who from past experience I know isn’t as much of a drill sergeant. That’s not to say she’s not tough; she definitely manages to make you burn without yelling at you.

Tracey’s The Booty Barre: Beginners & Beyond is a quick 35-minute express workout that also includes an ab and thigh bonus workout. The quickness of the workout is key for moms because we all know how precious workout time is. I put my rolling infant on the ground and let my 2-year-old go to town in the toy box while I tried to get in the workout. The workout includes a bit of light dance cardio, and I got some extra in trying to wrangle kiddos between moves.

Overall, if you like Pilates-style workouts, you’ll likely like this one (like, really). Like Pilates, you don’t do a million reps of anything, yet the small moves really target your muscles. The modifications are stellar on this one, so no matter what your fitness level, you can find a way to meet your needs, making it perfect for new moms. Plus, while you hit your buns and thighs with ballet-inspired exercises, you’re working your core a lot, which is important for new moms to regain midsection strength. While we’re not afraid to lift heavy weights, this is a workout that will remind you that light weights can still get your arms burning.

  1. I’ve been dealing with piriformis syndrome for the past few months. Exercises that directly target the (booty) glute area would be helpful for relieving this condition.

  2. Well it’s embarrassing to say but I know others can relate, but I need something for my saggy booty!! The shorter 35 minute workout time is also appreciated.

  3. I’m 27 weeks pregnant with twins and I know this DVD would help me save time and get my ballet booty back!

  4. I haven’t been able to try any barre classes yet as there are none offered around here. I grew up a dancer so I think this would be right up my alley!

  5. Ooooh, this is something I wanted to try before I had my son and desperately need now that he’s 1 and I haven’t picked up a regular workout schedule.

  6. after taking a few months off [i have 3 jobs + a rescue puppy!] from taking care of myself, i am ready to get back on the workout wagon!
a barre dvd [especially one that is under 45 min!] would be a great!

  7. I’m working on getting back into the shape I was in when I was a dancer and this video would be perfect!

  8. I just tried barre a couple days ago..and loved it! However, it is costly to attend classes. Having this DVD at home would be great for my AM workouts when its still dark outside!

  9. I had a baby 14 months ago – and I feel so self conscious about my body. I live in Michigan so it is already getting too cold to take my little one out – when I do try to take walks/run she screams and screams so I can’t get anything accomplished. It would be awesome to have a dvd workout like this one.

  10. My baby boy is almost 1 and I still have quite a bit to lose. I’ve changed my eating habits and have been seeing a doctor and a nutritionist for expert advice on my weight loss goals. After almost 2 months of eating better I feel like I need a new boost to get my weight down. This video sounds great! If I don’t win, I’ll have to look it up and buy it!
